Newcastle Personnel get 'caught'!

Posted 11 June 2012

Personnel from CANSA Newcastle committed themselves to spending some time in 'jail' in order to raise funds in support of CANSA health services in the Amajuba region. The event took place at the Blackrock Casino and we thank them for their part in making this an enjoyable event, for taking care of the 'prisoners', and for their generous contribution of R5 000.

Yolanda Bezuidenhout and Lezani Struwig (photo herewith) had a meaningful taste of being behind bars, surviving the cold and having to endure the stares of many onlookers and the noise of the gambling machines. The 'prisoners' were not able to get much sleep - and the income of R31 000 generated for this Jail 'n Bail Fundraiser was some consolation for their 'suffering'. While the target for this event had been R50 000, we hope that pledges and pending electronic fund transfers will make up for the shortfall.

We are most appreciative of the contributions and participation of all individual and other donors and trust that on a next occasion you would be willing to join in the fun and assist us in generating the much-needed funds for activities in our region.  Should you want to make a difference in your community, feel free to contact us.  We have much to do and would appreciate your help!
